Medical surgeries: Surgicorp prepares entry of navigation and robotics equipment

Operating rooms are modernized with the advancement of technology. Surgicorp is preparing investment in new equipment this year and will expand under a leasing model.

 

The Peruvian company Surgicorp, medical biotechnology provider, surgical solutions and equipment, in 2024 it will focus its strategy on penetrating the navigation and robotics technology market for highly complex medical procedures. What is it about and how much will they invest?
Surgicorp is based on import of products, representing more than 50 medical technology companies in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, explained Carlos Del Campo CEO and founder of the company. In total, they sell 1,000 items.
Surgicorp provides bone grafts for patients with tissue loss (these are imported from the United States). In addition, they have an orthopedics division, in which they offer prostheses for hips, shoulders and knees; osteobiological; neurosurgery; medical equipment for operating room, among others.

This year, the company will promote navigation and robotics technology, Del Campo said. “We already have navigators that work like GPS and they tell the surgeon what route to extract; for example, a tumor without damaging the tissues,” he explained.
Thus, the robotic exoscope It is one of the newest technologies for visualization of open surgeries and microsurgery in neurosurgery. These innovations also allow for a faster recovery of patients, explained Del Campo.

High value medical equipment

A cutting-edge technology like the Exoscope can cost between US$200,000 and US$250,000. Currently, Surgicorp opts for leasing to make them more accessible to the market, with a value per intervention of almost US$ 4,000. The company already has three browsers in Peru. These are used for complex procedures such as cancer.

“We have an aggressive program to invest in more machinery and medical equipment to place on consignment,” said Del Campo. In this way they will also boost sales of surgical instruments.

“This 2024 we will invest US$ 1 million in equipment,” said the executive. Del Campo maintained that what will help boost its sales in 2024 are clinic expansions, as well as investment in hospitals.

In addition, he pointed out, there are procedures that were pending during the pandemic and that are being carried out today.
